Madhavan L. Raghavan, associate professor of biomedical engineering and researcher at the Center for Computer-Aided Design, has received a $325,000 grant from the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust to establish a mechanobiology laboratory in the UI College of Engineering.

The laboratory will further advance teaching, training, and research collaborations among faculty and students, and will support ongoing efforts to create a multiscale modeling center.  The laboratory also will be available to explore industry contracts and partnerships in the area of mechanobiology.

The Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust is the largest private philanthropic foundation in the state of Iowa. It was created through the will of Roy J. Carver, a Muscatine industrialist and philanthropist, who died in 1981.
