Salam Rahmatalla is an assistant professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a researcher at the Center for Computer Aided Design (CCAD) at The University of Iowa. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in structures, mechanics, and materials from The University of Iowa and his B.S. and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Baghdad. He has authored or coauthored over thirty articles and presentations in the field of structure optimization and human motion. He is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). His research interests include multi-body dynamics, structural analysis and control, and human motion analysis and validation. He is involved in several projects at CCAD to study human motion strategy and human response to whole-body vibration using motion capture techniques and a six-degree-of-freedom motion platform.
