Lora Yekhshatyan is a graduate student in industrial engineering with a specialization in human factors at The University of Iowa. She graduated from Yerevan State University in Armenia with a master's degree in physics with a specialization in radio-physics and semiconductor materials. She studied electrophysical and optical properties of photo resistance of semiconductor materials and designed integral circuits based on matrix crystals for computer production. Lora also focused on teaching physics, astronomy, and information science at a high school. Upon starting her graduate studies at The University of Iowa in the fall of 2006, she got an assistantship position in the ground transportation research division of OPL. Her research is focused on determining the length of turn lanes at intersections, modeling the intersections with traffic simulation programs such as Synchro and SimTraffic.
