Forrest Holly is a professor emeritus of civil and environmental engineering at The University of Iowa, having specialized in computational hydraulics and modeling. He holds a Commercial Pilot certificate with Instrument Rating, is a Certified Flight Instructor, and has over 5,000 hours flight time accumulated since 1975 (single-engine airplane, land). He has served with the Civil Air Patrol as Mission Pilot, Instructor Pilot, Transport Pilot, and Scanner. Forrest's academic career as a research engineer in IIHR Hydroscience & Engineering included administrative responsibilities as department chair and associate dean of engineering. He is a licensed professional engineer, and served 8 years on the Iowa Engineering and Land Surveying Examination Board, which he chaired twice. He is also president emeritus of the International Association of Hydraulic Engineering and Research and has over 170 publications. In parallel with his OPL responsibilities, Forrest provides consulting engineering services in hydraulic engineering and continues teaching undergraduate and graduate courses at The University of Iowa and at Universitad de Nice Sophia-Antipoulis in France.
