An article in the January 1 issue of the Iowa City Press-Citizen featured K.K. Choi’s research to improve the reliability of wind turbines.
Choi, Carver Professor of Mechanical Engineering, professor of mechanical and industrial engineering, and researcher at the UI Center for Computer-Aided Design, has developed simulation software to determine weak points in a mechanical design for automobiles. The same software can be adapted to wind turbines, which will result in fewer repairs and increased reliability.
