Ibrahim Ozbolat, assistant professor of mechanical and industrial engineering and researcher at the Center for Computer-Aided Design, has received a $50,000 grant from the National Institutes of Health.

The project, entitled "Towards an Artificial Pancreas: 3D Organ Printing," aims to create a novel bioengineered organ printing platform for printing insulin-producing cells differentiated from human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) through a pressure-assisted computer-controlled system with embedded vessel-like 3D micro-fluidic channels.
